Cookie Law

We at the Clear Box Web Design office have been contact by a number of clients regarding the the new cookie law whcih was meant to come into play in May 2011 but was at the very last minute was moved to May 2012.
On this page of our website we have decided to explain whats happening and what we are doing about it plus some usefull links and videos.
What are
Cookies?
A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is used for an website to send information to a user's browser such as internet exployer and for the browser to return the information to the origin site.
The state information can be used for authentication, identification of a user session, user's preferences, shopping cart contents, or anything else that can be accomplished through storing text data on the user's computer.
Whats the
Problem with Cookies?
Well to be honest not a lot, they update your shopping cart, lets people track your movements around websites and will act on what you do to improve your experience, keeps you logged into sites and helps load the sites you have previously been on load faster.
The main issue that we think the ico have a problem with is advert placing that may accure after you have viewed a product on a site. Have you ever noticed this? adverts appearing on different sites after searching for something?

What are Clear Box Web Design
Doing about it?
If in April 2012 the law is still going to be pushed through then all previous clients will be contacted, there will be a small fee but we will make your site legal so no need to worry.
All new sites we work on will be upgraded to provide the EU with what they want which will probably be a little drop down question which will needed to be ticked.
